The Hurlow CFO Process™

You Can Trust Hurlow to Guide Your Financial Life.

As a team, we’ve perfected the client experience we now call our CFO Process™ (Coordinated Financial Overview)

Our process is built to help you feel educated and empowered – so you can spend, save, give, and live the life you want, with confidence in the choices you’re making.

Start with a conversation

Fit Meeting

Our relationship starts with a meaningful conversation designed to build the foundation of trust. During this initial meeting, we listen carefully to understand what matters most to you and your family and introduce our team’s approach and expertise. This pressure-free discussion allows us to learn your unique story, understand the challenges you face and determine if our services align with your specific needs. There’s no preparation required on your part, no cost to attend, and absolutely no obligation. In fact, the only decision we will ask you to make is whether to schedule another meeting.

Hurlow Wealth Management sets the standard for what financial services should be by operating as a true personal CFO – transparent, disciplined, and fully accountable – rather than a transactional advisor focused on products or commissions.

The result? You can spend, save, give, and live intentionally, knowing your plan is actively working in the background.

Schedule Your
Fit Meeting

No preparation needed and no obligation - this is a short conversation where we find out if we’re a good fit for each other.

Extending the CFO Process™ to Your Business

For our personal clients who own a business, Hurlow provides access to our Business CFO Process™ - bringing the same disciplined, fiduciary-driven approach to your company’s investment and retirement plans. We serve as a fiduciary, document our role contractually, and clearly define the responsibilities we assume on your behalf.
Business Fit Meeting

We begin with an introductory meeting to understand your company, your retirement plan, and your responsibilities as a fiduciary.

We introduce our team, explain our process and compensation, and determine whether our approach aligns with your business needs.

This meeting is purely exploratory—no preparation required and no obligation to move forward.

We gather and analyze all aspects of your retirement plan, including investments, fees, plan design, and participant success metrics.

Through focused discussion, we clarify your business objectives and employee goals, establishing a complete understanding of how the plan functions today—and where improvements may exist.
We benchmark your plan against comparable organizations to evaluate fees, services, and competitiveness.

Working closely with your Third-Party Administrator (TPA), we assess and refine plan design to ensure it supports owners, executives, and employees while meeting regulatory requirements and fiduciary best practices.
We’ll help you formalize a disciplined investment process through the creation of an Investment Policy Statement (IPS).

Using this framework, we evaluate current investments, implement changes where appropriate, and monitor the plan’s investment lineup on an ongoing basis—documenting decisions to meaningfully reduce fiduciary risk.
We meet with plan fiduciaries and investment committee on a defined schedule to monitor investments, providers, plan design, employee education and provider monitoring.

For participants, we offer individualized guidance covering retirement readiness and broader financial planning—helping employees make informed decisions while strengthening the overall value of the plan.
